One-way from Basti
A drop to Lucknow is not half a round trip. The car still has to get home.

A student with two bags outside a Lucknow hostel at 11 p.m. does not need a round trip. He also does not need a Rapido that triples when the hostel gate is 200 metres off the pin. He needs a drop, quoted before the car leaves Basti.
“One way, so half.” That would hold if the car vanished at the hostel. It does not. Fuel, duty, empty return. One-way is quoted as one-way. Round trip stays the default on the route pages because most families come home. The 2 a.m. version of this argument is the app.
When one-way is rational
You are not coming back in this car
Student to a Lucknow hostel. Patient to a SGPGI admission. Officer reporting to a posting. The return is a train next week. Book a drop.
Airport as an endpoint
GOP, LKO, VNS — if you fly out, the car should not sit in short-term parking “just in case.” GOP from Basti is the usual one.
Split groups
Half the family stays in Ayodhya overnight. Half returns to Basti. That is one round trip plus one drop, or two separate bookings — not a moral debate about “half.”
You would otherwise take an unreserved train at 11 p.m.
A one-way sedan at a confirmed fare is sometimes the cheaper dignity. We will still tell you if the train is the correct answer.
When it is a bad buy
- Same-day Ayodhya. You will want the same driver at the same gate. Book the return.
- Kashi overnight with the same six people coming home. Night halt plus round trip is cleaner than hunting a Varanasi cab at 6 a.m.
- “We’ll see how we feel.” Indecision is a round trip with extra waiting, or two one-ways. Pick before we dispatch.
How we quote it

- Do you offer one-way cabs from Basti?
- Yes. One-way drops run to Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Varanasi and Prayagraj, among others. They are quoted as one-way, not as half of the same-day return listed on the route card.
- Why isn’t one-way half the round-trip price?
- Because the car and driver must reposition. A round trip pays for known running both ways with you in the seats. A one-way pays for one occupied leg and an empty or loosely planned return the desk has to absorb.
- When should I just book a round trip?
- When you are coming home the same day or the next morning with the same group. Paying two one-ways plus two waiting arguments is how people overpay for Ayodhya.
