Basti to Ram Mandir

Ramesh Kumar Gupta took his family to Ram Mandir after the inauguration. The useful part was not the highway. It was that the driver already knew which lot was still taking cars.

The driver knew all the parking spots, VIP entry routes, and even where to get the best prasad.

We quote 67 km one-way Basti to the temple area, NH-27. Bus tables say ~54 km depot-to-depot. Some tourism pages say 70. We bill the road we drive. Same-day return unless you book a drop. An app pin at Godowlia will not find you when ten thousand other cars have the same idea. That is why not the app.

Distance, and why tables disagree

City-to-city tables measure different endpoints. A bus listing that says ~54 km is usually depot-to-depot on the fastest coach path. Yatra’s public table lists Basti–Ayodhya at 70 km by road. Our 67 km is the road we actually run from a Basti pickup to the temple-side drop we use for Ram Mandir, not a straight-line flight number.

What the day looks like

• Leave before the city wakes

  A 5:00–6:00 a.m. pickup from Basti still gives you a queue. A 9:00 a.m. pickup gives you a queue and a hot car park. Same-day return is comfortable if darshan is the only job. It is not comfortable if you also promised Saryu aarti, a relative in Faizabad, and dinner back in Gandhi Nagar.

• Drop, then walk

  Security perimeters move. Drivers who do this road weekly know which approach is open that morning and which lot is already a deadlock. You will still walk. Wear shoes you can stand in for an hour.

• The driver does not disappear

  This is the product. He waits, he drinks tea, he answers the phone. You do not hunt for a new cab at the exit with a tired parent and a child who has had enough of the sun.

• Return before the evening crush if you can

  NH-27 back to Basti is simple until festival evenings. If you are travelling near Ram Navami, Deepotsav, or a heavily announced visit, add an hour each way and consider a later dinner at home.

Which car

Two to four people with a change of clothes: sedan (Dzire / Amaze / Etios). Five to seven with bags: Ertiga or Innova. A village party of twelve: Tempo Traveller, and accept that group parking is slower. We do not upsell an Innova for two passengers because it photographs better.

Elderly passengers and queues

If someone in the group cannot stand for long, say so on WhatsApp. We can time the drop, keep water in the car, and avoid a second walking loop. We cannot invent a private corridor through temple security.

What we will not claim

• Official VIP darshan tickets. Those, when they exist, come from the trust or the administration — not from a Basti taxi desk.
• A fixed “darshan in 20 minutes” guarantee. Queue length is not a kilometre we control.
• A car to the sanctum. If someone on the ghat sells that, they are not us.

Free cancel up to 24 hours before pickup. If you want the car to wait through evening aarti, say so — waiting is a duty hour, not a surprise.
