Fourteen people, two Innovas, one uncle who got in the wrong car on NH-27. That is the yatra that should have been a Tempo.
Comfort versus cost-per-head is the wrong fight. Do they have to arrive as one? How many bags? How close is a 16-seater allowed to stop? We also run a sedan and a 20–26 seater. This page is MPV versus Tempo.

Use the Innova (or Ertiga) when
- You are 2–6 people and the seventh is a child, not a seventh adult with a trolley.
- Someone in the group is elderly and you want a lower step and a closer drop than a bus will get.
- The trip is Basti–Ayodhya same day, or GOP airport, and luggage is modest.
- You might split tomorrow — two families, two return times.
Use the Tempo Traveller when
- You are 8–16 and you refuse to lose uncle-ji in a second car on NH-27.
- It is a mandal, a baraat guest shuttle, or Magh Mela where regrouping in a crowd is the actual risk.
- Bags and bedding for an overnight will not fit in an MPV boot.
- You understand the 300 km daily floor: a 40 km wedding shuttle may still be quoted as a local package, but an outstation Tempo is not a city toy.

Ayodhya
Everyone walks the last stretch. The Tempo’s disadvantage is parking time, not darshan quality. If the group is six, do not hire sixteen seats for status.
Kashi
The gali does not care about your vehicle. Tempo waits farther out. Comfort on the highway; equality at the corridor.
Sangam / Magh
No-vehicle core. A Tempo is a meeting point on the permitted side of the belt. An Innova is a meeting point with fewer people to count. Counting is the feature.
Weddings in Basti
Guest shuttles favour Tempo or mini bus because the job is many bodies, many stops, one muhurat. Bridal family of four still wants a sedan.
The two-Innova option
Eight adults in two MPVs can be kinder than one Tempo if half the group is frail and you can park closer. It is unkind if the two cars disagree about lunch. Appoint one person whose WhatsApp is law.

Questions
- How many people fit in an Innova from Basti?
- We class Ertiga / Innova / Xylo as a 6-passenger MPV with 4–5 bags. Seven adults plus temple shopping is how you arrive angry. Six plus a child is the comfort line.
- When is a Tempo Traveller the right car?
- When 8–16 people need to arrive together, with a roof carrier for bags, and you accept that the vehicle waits farther from the sanctum than a sedan would. Daily minimum running is 300 km.
- Can we split into two Innovas instead?
- Yes, and sometimes you should — two MPVs can park closer and split elderly passengers. You also split coordination. A mandal that must sing in one vehicle should not split.
